An extremely popular place to visit

The Roaches can be seen from the top of Anroach Farm Rocks and is a popular place for walking, climbing and bouldering.. With buzzards nesting and the rare sighting of wallabies! the Roaches are a wind carved crop of rocks (gritstone)

Hen Cloud is the tallest which is separated from the main rocks and has a lovely tea room on the road nearby.

My favourite is to do a circular walk over the top of the Roaches and back up on the road which takes about two hours.. finishing at the licensed tea rooms.

Directions to The Roaches

You can get to the Roaches via the back country road but the easiest way to give directions is to go up to the main Leek to Buxton road and turn towards Leek. after a few miles you will drop down a hill turn right at the signpost for Upper Hulme - past the 'Rock Inn'.

Then take your first left (very sharp left) carry on this road and it will lead you to the Tea Room where you can park on the right by the road or carry on and park on the left by the foot of the Roaches.
